Legislator Joins GOP Leadership Team in House of Representatives
HARTFORD- State Representative Anthony J. D’Amelio (R-Waterbury) was elected as an Assistant Republican Leader by the Republican caucus of the State House of Representatives during a House GOP caucus held yesterday evening. D’Amelio was selected by the new House Republican Leader, Lawrence Cafero, Jr. of Norwalk, to join his leadership team.
D’Amelio will be added to the roster of House GOP legislators in the new Leader’s circle that will formulate the House GOP agenda, and work to see critical legislation to fruition.
“Tony D’Amelio has the kind of experience and honest approach to good government that the entire legislature, particularly our caucus deeply appreciates” said Cafero. “Tony is a hard-working business-owner who offers this caucus a unique and critical perspective on a variety of issues the General Assembly will be addressing. I am pleased to have him as part of our team.”
“I am honored, and appreciate the new Republican Leader’s confidence,” said D’Amelio. “I am also excited about the potential that this term of the General Assembly has in terms of what we can do for the people of Connecticut. There are a number of really challenging issues on the horizon for state government, and we need to make sure we meet those challenges head-on. I look forward to getting right to work.”
Representative D’Amelio, a life-long resident of Waterbury, was first elected to the General Assembly in a special election in January of 1996. He is co-owner of Paisano's Restaurant and Bar in the East End of Waterbury and is a licensed Realtor with The Covino Agency.
