HOUSE REPUBLICANS LAUNCH NEW BLOG

www.cthouserules.com COMMUNICATES DIRECTLY WITH STATE RESIDENTS

HARTFORD – House Republicans today formally unveiled their new blog “House Rules” at cthouserules.com. The weblog will be used by House Republicans to open a direct dialogue between House Republicans and Connecticut residents on legislation, statewide events and the issues shaping Connecticut, House Republican Leader state Rep. Lawrence F. Cafero, Jr. said.

“The House Republicans are seizing the opportunity presented by evolving social media to communicate directly with state residents and taxpayers through this blog,” Cafero said.  “We want residents to not only have a window into what is going on at the Capitol, but to have a voice in the dialogue surrounding defining and critical issues.  This blog is meant to create an online debate, and we welcome Republicans, Democrats, and individuals of all political stripes to log on and be a part of the discussion.”

House Republicans plan to post on daily issues and Capitol events, and occasionally blog live from the House Chamber during sessions of the House.

“We are excited about this new experiment,” added Cafero.  “We are always looking for ways to make government more open and allow residents more participation.  This is one new way to accomplish that.”

The blog is currently up and running, and will officially launch on the Tuesday, February 6th, the opening day of the 2008 legislative session.  To visit HOUSE RULES, go to www.cthouserules.com.
