“Flipper,” Video Shows Democrat House Speaker Flip-Flopping on Highway Tolls |

State Rep. Lawrence F. Cafero, Jr., House Republican leader, today noted that a video posted on the cthouserules.com blog site clearly shows the Democratic House Speaker has flip-flopped on highway tolls.
The video, “Flipper,” includes footage of the house speaker last year promoting highway tolls then this year opposing them.
The one-minute video also includes statements by the house speaker for and against gas tax relief for drivers at the pumps.
“This is the latest installment in holding Democratic leaders accountable for their own words and actions,” said Rep. Cafero. “The days of saying one thing and then flip-flopping are over.”
“The majority Democrats seem to be firmly on both sides of this issue,” Cafero said.
After a 1983 truck crash killed seven people at the Stratford toll plaza, Connecticut removed tolls from the Connecticut Turnpike in 1985.
“For the record,” Rep. Cafero said, “I do not want to go back to 1985 toll technology. If there is new 21st century technology that might or might not work, at least is should be examined and discussed.”
