REP. CAFERO HOSTS FOX RUN STUDENTS AT CAPITOL INVENTION CONVENTION

HARTFORD – State Rep. Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. of Norwalk today hosted students from Fox Run Elementary School in Norwalk at the Capitol where they unveiled their 2006 Connecticut Invention Convention projects.

Cafero, the House Deputy Leaders, said the Fox Run group was part of the 700 inventors across Connecticut who will participate in the statewide convention on April 29 at Storrs. Cafero praised the elementary school inventors for their creativity and hard work, as well as their imaginations. Cafero also attended Fox Run as a youngster and treated the students to a version of the official school song at the time.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see some patent applications filed with the U.S. patent office,’’ he said after viewing the projects. “These young people have applied their imaginations and talents to solving every day challenges and have come up with some pretty amazing solutions.’’

Fox Run was one of  more than 90 schools to take part in the annual Connecticut Invention Convention program that encourages creative thinking and problem-solving through the “inventing’’ process. The annual program was begun in Connecticut 23 years ago.

Today was CIC Day at the Capitol. CIC students met with their local legislators throughout the day.

“It was great to see some familiar faces from Norwalk on such an inspiring day,’’ he added.
