Rep. Cafero Cited for Legislation Supporting Children

HARTFORD – House Republican Deputy Leader state Rep. Lawrence F. Cafero of Norwalk has been named an Outstanding Legislator by two organizations serving children for his record in support of youth.

Cafero received the Excellent Service to Children award from the Unitarian Society of Hartford and the Shared Parenting Council of Connecticut at a ceremony in the state Capitol.

John Clapp, chairman of the Board of  Directors of Shared Parenting Council of Connecticut, in presenting the award said of Cafero, “The board recognizes your vision and your ability to pass legislation that benefits the children of Connecticut.’’

Clapp cited Cafero’s support for two specific laws that he helped enact last year: one dealt with child custody during divorce proceedings and the other reformed arbitration rules for family relations.

Cafero said he was honored to be cited for his record on matters regarding children and pledged to continue working to make a difference in Hartford for families that confront serious challenges.
