Reps Hamzy, Burns Compile Superior Attendance Records for House Roll Call Votes in 2007 |

State representatives William A. Hamzy and Ron Burns compiled superior attendance records for roll call votes on the floor of the state House of Representatives during the 2007 legislative session, according to information provided this week by the House Clerks’ office.
“Since my freshman year at the state House in 1995, I have tried to maintain a 100 percent record for roll call votes and for the most part, I have been successful,” said Representative Hamzy, R-78th District. “Being present and voting on the House floor, and in committee meetings, has made it possible for me to enact legislation beneficial to Bristol and Plymouth and to establish working relationships with my legislative colleagues that helped me to obtain state grants for critical local projects. I take pride in my record of service to the people of Bristol and Plymouth and look forward to the challenges the 2008 legislative session will bring.”
“I’m very pleased to report that several important bills I co-sponsored, worked for and supported on the floor of the House last year became law and will benefit the people of Bristol and our entire state,” said Representative Burns, R-77th District. “They included the 2007-2009 state budget, which includes no major tax increases and provides an additional $6.3 million for city schools. I also helped secure grants that will benefit Bristol, including the $10.7 million grant for the Route 72 extension project, which will help stimulate business growth and create jobs. I’m proud of my 99 percent attendance record and my efforts on behalf of our city.”
Expressed in percentages, the House Clerks’ Office recorded Representative Hamzy’s attendance at 100 percent (a record achieved by only 24 of Connecticut’s 151 state representatives) and Representative Burns’ at 99 percent (a record achieved by only 29 of the 151 state representatives), according to the House Clerk’s Office.
Representative Hamzy was present and voting for 418 of the 420 roll call votes taken on the state House floor during the 2007 session, and Representative Burns was present and voting for 414 of the 420 House roll call votes, the House Clerk’s Office said.
