Bond package will benefit towns of the 52nd District |

Today, state Rep. Penny Bacchiochi voted in favor of a $2.9 billion bonding package, which includes funding for several projects in Somers and Stafford. Gov. M. Jodi Rell has indicated that she will sign the bonding bill into law.
The following projects were approved as part of the bonding package:· $439,025 for downtown redevelopment in Stafford
· $439,025 for the expansion of Somers Library
· $878,050 for the Somers Housing Authority for rehabilitation and expansion of senior housing at the Woodcrest facility
· $1 million for Johnson Memorial Hospital.
“I am very pleased that so many of our district’s projects remained in the bond package,” said Rep. Bacchiochi. “These funds will boost many significant projects and offer long-term improvements in our towns.” Rep. Bacchiochi also credited state Sen. Tony Guglielmo (R-Stafford) and John Kissel (R-Enfield) for pulling through to secure the funding for the 52nd District. As a result of the bond package approval, towns will be reimbursed for expenses incurred for any short-term borrowing that happened while the bond package was being negotiated by legislative leaders.
