Military Killed in Action to Be Recognized with Free License Plate

Rep. Mike Alberts, Veterans Committee Leader, Praises Action to Issue Free License Plates to Immediate Family of Military who Have Fallen in Line of Duty

New license plates that recognize veterans who have been killed in the line of duty will be issued free, upon request, under legislation now near final approval.

A new Gold Star Family License Plate is available to immediate family members of Connecticut service members who were killed in the line of duty.

State Rep. Mike Alberts, R-50, Woodstock, ranking member on the legislature’s Veterans Committee, and a sponsor of the legislation,  praised the state House of Representatives for approving the bill.

“These are people who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country,” said Rep. Alberts. “It is a small token of our respect and appreciation for those who have fallen in the line of duty. This legislation is the right thing to do.”

The legislation was approved by unanimous vote. It is expected to gain quick approval of the state Senate.

State Rep. Mike Alberts serves the 50th Assembly District of Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret and Woodstock in the state House of Representatives. He is ranking member on the legislature’s Select Committee on Veterans Affairs. He is also an Air Force veteran.
