Woodstock Receiving $250,000 State Grant |

A $250,000 state grant is coming to the town of Woodstock for the expansion, renovation, and rehabilitation of the town’s existing highway garage. The funding will help modernize the 1970s facility, control water runoff and reduce water pollution of sensitive areas.
The project will make the facility more efficient and include additional covered storage for expensive equipment, more space to do vehicle maintenance and a relocated fuel depot using up-to-date standards.
State Rep. Michael Alberts, R-50th, Woodstock, thanked Gov. M. Jodi Rell and her administration for providing the funds through the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP).
The grants were among $20 million for STEAP grants recently approved by the state Bond Commission, chaired by Gov. Rell.
“Thanks to the governor, these funds will go to a local improvement project that benefits the town, highway users and taxpayers,” said Rep. Alberts.
“I am pleased to have played a small role in advocating for these funds,” added Rep. Alberts.
Rep. Alberts thanked numerous local Woodstock officials who worked on the grant application and who provided additional information that succeeded in gaining the $250,000 in state funding.
Mike Alberts serves the 50th Assembly District of Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret and Woodstock in the state House of Representatives.
