Governor Rell Announces $101,950 STEAP Grant for Eastford |

Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that $101,950 for improvement to the Eastford town transfer station gained approval when the state Bond Commission met on March 28.
The funds will be used to implement various improvements to the town transfer station. The funds are being made available through the Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP). STEAP provides financial assistance for projects that encourage economic development and preserve the character of the state’s less populated towns.
“I am pleased that Eastford will benefit from this program,” said Governor Rell. “The town needs help to fund improvements to the transfer station and I am pleased we can help.”
“This is money that will be very helpful to Eastford and I am grateful to have been successful in advocating for it,” said State Representative Mike Alberts, 50th District.
“Eastford’s town transfer station is in need of these various improvements,” said State Senator Tony Guglielmo, 35th District. “This is wonderful news for the town and these funds will go a long way in sustaining the quality of life in Eastford.”
More than $19.7 million in STEAP funds for 72 towns were approved by the Bond Commission today. The funds will enable 83 projects across the state to move forward.
