Alberts Welcomes Agricultural Community to the Capitol

Annual Agricultural Day Scheduled for March 21

State Rep. Mike Alberts, who represents five towns in northeastern Connecticut, said he looks forward to welcoming the agricultural community to the capitol in Hartford for Connecticut’s annual agricultural day.

"Agriculture Day at the Capitol represents a great opportunity for Connecticut residents, legislators especially, to learn more about our thriving agricultural economy and the state resources available to help small business owners succeed" said State Representative Mike Alberts (R-Woodstock).

"Connecticut is home to a wide variety of agricultural enterprises.  In my district, for example," added Alberts "we have vineyards, orchards, dairy farms, apiaries, nurseries, and sugarhouses."

On Wednesday, March 21, 2007, Agriculture Day at the Capitol will be taking place in the North Lobby of the Capitol. From 10 am to 1 pm, more than 30 agricultural associations and their representatives will be on hand to showcase themselves and to distribute information. Legislators and the public visit these booths, and it is an opportunity to inform policy makers of the importance of agriculture, to voice concerns, and discuss legislation important to agriculture.

At noon, official presentations begin with the official proclamation of "Connecticut Agriculture Day". For further information, please contact Ron Olsen of the state Department of Agriculture at 860-713-2550.

Rep. Alberts serves the 50th Assembly District of Brooklyn, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret and Woodstock in the state House of Representatives.
