Budget
1.) Should the state legislature adopt a two-year budget similar to proposals offered by Governor Rell and Republican legislators that does not raise taxes or the competing Democratic plan which would raise taxes by $3.3 billion?
State Services
2.) If you had to choose between (a) cutting important state services at the risk of raising taxes versus (b) continuing service levels while raising taxes in order to pay for it, which would you choose?
Layoffs
3.) Would you be willing to accept state employee layoffs if it meant there would be no (or a lesser) increase in taxes?
Jobs
4.) Do you support new tax incentives and regulatory relief for business to attract new employers to Connecticut and as a result, create more jobs; or do you believe employers should pay more taxes and be more tightly regulated?
Election Funding
5.) A law authorizing public funding for candidates for state elective offices was enacted in 2007 and financed the election expenses of most candidates for the state legislature in 2008. Should this law, which created the Citizens Election Program (CEP), remain on the books for the 2010 election or should it be repealed and the tax dollars the CEP would have provided to candidates to pay their campaign expenses be used to help eliminate the state’s budget deficit?

Death Penalty
6.) Do you support Governor Rell’s decision to veto legislation that would have abolished the death penalty in Connecticut and replaced it with life in prison?
Three Strikes
7.) Should the state legislature enact a ‘three strikes’ law that would require judges to impose mandatory sentences on repeat violent offenders convicted of a third crime of violence such as murder, rape, home invasion or kidnapping?
Unfunded Mandates
8.) The state legislature has imposed hundreds of mandates on towns and cities over the years that require municipalities to offer various programs and services but has refused to authorize state assistance to help defray the costs to towns of providing them. Given the financial constraints on towns and cities caused by the recession, should the state legislature enact a moratorium on new unfunded mandates and suspend unfunded mandates that currently are on the books?
