Education:  Yale Law School,  J.D. degree, 1963;  Yale College, B.A. degree, 1960.

Occupation:  Attorney. Of Counsel with the law firm of Rucci, Burnham, Carta & Edelberg, LLP. Formerly Vice President, Corporate Secretary of MeadWestvaco Corporation.

Public Service:  Chair of the New Canaan Board of Assessment Appeals, 2000-2003; Councilman, 1989-1997. Also served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. Former Director of the United Way of New Canaan. Member of the New Canaan Exchange Club and the New Canaan Kiwanis Club. Member of the Advisory Board of the New Canaan Nature Center.

Formerly served as an attorney trial referee and arbitrator in the Superior Court. Also, formerly served as a volunteer attorney with Connecticut Legal Services.

Retired in 1992 with the rank of Captain from the Judge Advocate General's Corps, United States Naval Reserve.

Representative Hetherinton discusses Republican ethics reform proposals with state Representative David Labriola, R-131 th District, right. The reform measures were the subject of a news conference at the state capitol Monday (April 14, 2008). Representative Labriola and Representative Hetherington serve on the state legislature’s Government Administration and Elections Committee, where a bill similar to the Republican measure originated.
