State Representative Marilyn Giuliano, right, receives a petition from environmental activists Christopher Cryder and Suellen Kozey McCuin of the Alliance for Sound area Planning urging the state legislature to support funding for the purchase of Connecticut's last 1,000 acre coastal forest. Known as “The Preserve,” most of the forest is in Old Saybrook, with smaller portions located in Essex and Westbrook. The petition was signed by more than 1,000 people. Representative Giuliano, R-23 rd District, is a cosponsor of the legislation that would provide funding for the purchase.
